Fabric Flower

While I was in a store this weekend I was approached by a woman asking how I made the fabric flower that is on my purse.   I'm posting the link to the Etsy shop where I got the instructions to make the flower.  I don't have a picture of the flower because my camera battery has died.  I've been around a lot of family this weekend so my camera has had a lot of use.  Not to mention my daughter has learned how to use the camera so I have about thirty pictures from a two year old's perspective!  I will post pictures of the flower later.

New Tote

I finished this tote bag yesterday.  It's 12" wide and 16" tall.  The strap is 20".  I'm not going to sell this particular one.  It was the first time I used this pattern and it has some flaws.  I'm going to change some of the ways the pattern said to make this bag.  Mainly on the inside.  I'm adding a pocket and a magnetic snap.  I'm also changing the way the straps are put on.  The updated bag will still look like this there will just be some changes on the inside.

New Handbag

This is the latest handbag I have made.  It is the Pleated Handbag.

This bag is made out of Amy Butler's Morning Glory in Linen.  The shoulder straps are about 20" long.  It is about 11" tall and about 15 1/2 " across the bottom.

The lining is made from Amy Butler's Full Moon Dot in Cherry.  There is one pocket on the inside and a magnetic closure.  This bag is $38.

The pattern for this particular bag was designed by Sweet Pea Totes.

Handbags

I have decided to venture in to making handbags! I'm really excited about it. Here are some pictures of the first two I made. The first one I am putting up for auction at a Sacred Selections (sacredselections.blogspot.com) benefit in Bartlett, TN and the second one has already sold.

I'll be posting others that I make on my website (thesweetcheeksbowtique.com) soon. If you are a fabric junkie like me and want a handbag made out of a particular print, let me know. I can tell you how much to buy and you can send it to me to make a handbag out of!

Large Bow

I've had some trouble settling on a size for the large bow. I made it with 30" of ribbon and someone said "I need it a little bigger". So I made it a little bigger. Then someone else said "I need it a little bigger". So I made it a little bit bigger. You see where I'm going here!

I had to try and come up with a way to make everyone happy. What I decided to do was make the bows however big you want them and charge by the inch. I charge 20 cents per inch then I round it to the nearest dollar or half dollar.

Here are some examples:

This is a large bow made with 33" of ribbon. It is $6.50.

This is a large bow made with 40" of ribbon. It is $8.

I would say the most average size is the 33" one. I hope doing it this way will help you get the size that you want!

Back to the Blog

I'm trying to get back to the blog and keep up with it. The last few months I have had a lot of orders for bows and have neglected the blog and the website. I'm going to try to do a better job of this starting now. We'll see how long it lasts!

I've made some changes to some of the bows I make. I'll start posting new pictures of the bows shortly.

The website has been successful! I still don't have where you can order directly off of it (for tax reasons) but it seems to be working out. Email me any suggestions you have about the site!

Thanks to all of you who have ordered bows!
